Codename Cygnus (iOS/Android)

Lead Writer, Episode 7

I first met Jonathon Myers, founder of Reactive Studios, at the East Coast Games Conference in 2013. We were both speaking on the Narrative Track, and we both had experience in the casual games market. We also lived an hour and a half away from each other, so it was honestly more than a bit strange we never knew of each other up to that point.

Anyway, between the speaking engagements, Jon told me about a fascinating new project he was working on called Codename Cygnus. He pitched it as an interactive, choose-your-own-adventure radio drama, where you-

-He didn't need to really say anything after that, because that's all I heard before I was sold on the idea. Each episode of the game starred the player as a James Bond-styled spy reacting to situations acted out by a team of stellar voice over performers. The story would change depending on your actions, ultimately leading to an epic finale where every single major choice you made came together, resulting in a multitude of different possible cliffhanger endings.

When Jon's team was about ready to produce Episode 7, he reached out to me to see if I would be interested in heading the writing, serving as a lead to a junior writer working at Reactive. I was most definitely interested, and set to work immersing myself in the lore of Cygnus, coming to grips with all the major decision points, working them into the story branches, and ensuring equal quality in the writing between all team members.
